Calibration of the ESA CCI-Combined Soil Moisture Products on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

چکیده

Soil moisture (SM) retrieved from satellite and spaceborn sensors provides useful parameters for earth system models (ESMs). The Climate Change Initiative (CCI) SM products released by the European Space Agency have been widely used in many humid/semi-humid climatic regions due to their relatively long-term record. However, performance of these cold arid regions, such as Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP), is largely unknown, necessitating urgent evaluation calibration areas. In this work, we evaluated reliability improved accuracy active-passive combined CCI (CCI-C) using in-situ measured contents (SMC) under different underlying surface conditions. First, some conventional were investigate relationship between CCI-C observed SMC, yielding similar fitting performances. Next, random forest method multiple linear regression contrast calibrate validate product based on was found highest accuracy. data with best-performed spatial zonation methods, e.g., climate, topography, land cover, vegetation, resulted distinct patterns SM. Compared a widely-used product, namely Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) dataset, calibrated vegetation larger but had patterns. This study also points value support studies QTP.

Information System of the Wetlands on the Qinghai-tibet Plateau

This study establishes an information system of the wetlands and lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. We sort up on the wetlands and use Visual Basic 6.0 for the management and development of MapObjects, and the ArcSDE pattern to place the spatial and attribute data into the Microsoft SQL Server relational integrated database. We demonstrate how this Wetland Information System, containing all th...

Responses of Soil Microbial Communities to Experimental Warming in Alpine Grasslands on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Global surface temperature is predicted to increase by at least 1.5°C by the end of this century. However, the response of soil microbial communities to global warming is still poorly understood, especially in high-elevation grasslands. We therefore conducted an experiment on three types of alpine grasslands on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to study the effect of experimental warming on abundance a...

Belowground carbon responses to experimental warming regulated by soil moisture change in an alpine ecosystem of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

Recent studies found that the largest uncertainties in the response of the terrestrial carbon cycle to climate change might come from changes in soil moisture under the elevation of temperature. Warming-induced change in soil moisture and its level of influence on terrestrial ecosystems are mostly determined by climate, soil, and vegetation type and their sensitivity to temperature and moisture...

Using Python® language for the validation of the CCI soil moisture products via SM2RAIN

Remote sensing techniques provide a new way to obtain hydrological variables (i.e. rainfall and soil moisture), mainly in poorly instrumented areas that are fundamental for natural hazard assessment and mitigation. The even increasing availability of satellite derived products characterized by high temporal and spatial coverage requires the development of techniques and instruments for big data...

The Tibetan Plateau observatory of plateau scale soil moisture and soil temperature (Tibet-Obs) for quantifying uncertainties in coarse resolution satellite and model products

A plateau scale soil moisture and soil temperature observatory is established on the Tibetan Plateau for quantifying uncertainties in coarse resolution satellite and model products of soil moisture and soil temperature. The Tibetan Plateau observatory of plateau scale soil moisture and soil temperature (Tibet-Obs) consists of three regional scale insitu reference networks, including the Naqu ne...
